Who's Who
Here at Portslade we are led by our Pastor, an Elder and a team of Deacons. While we are a member of the Baptist Union, we are a self-governing local church. Our leadership team, along with the Church members, are responsible for the witness and outreach of our church, as well as the financial and legal responsibilities that this brings.
Phil and Julia
Phil and Julia have been leading our church since 1994. Phil is an ordained Baptist minister, originally from up North, and has overall responsibility for the preaching and teaching of the church. He has a huge pastoral heart, and is a mighty prayer! Julia is involved in all sorts of areas of church life, not least having led the children and youth work here, and is employed in a local primary school.
In December 2018, Phil and Julia will be moving into a new season in their lives as God has called them to move on from Portslade. We are hugely going to miss them, but we are excited that they are going to be starting the next chapter in their service. Please pray for them during this transition.
Graham
Graham is an experienced pastor, having led a local church for over 20 years. Since stepping down from full time leadership, Graham has assisted other churches during the transition between leaders. Graham has kindly offered to moderate at PBC while we wait for God to reveal who will be our next Pastor. We are truly blessed to have someone with such experience helping us in this time!
Harry and Gemma
Harry is our Elder and leads the Youth and Kids work here at Portslade. Harry has grown up through PBC, and has been so blessed by the love and fellowship from those who helped him on his journey.
He is married to the wonderful Gemma and they are involved in the media and tech side of our Sunday services, as well as serving on the kids and youth teams.
The Deacons
Here at Portslade we have a team of Deacons, elected by the members of the Church, who have responsibility for the legal and financial side of the church. Our Deacons also serve as Trustees.
Janet - Church Secretary
Janet is in charge of all things to do with the Church calendar, as well as keeping the rest of us in line! Her work as a nurse has given her a heart for helping those in need.
Rosalie - Church Treasurer
Amongst many other things, Rosalie is responsible for the church accounts, making sure that we use your generous giving to allow us to reach out and bless those around us. For many years, Rosalie was a missionary and also a teacher in a local secondary school.
Sue - Assistant Treasurer and Open Fellowship leader
Sue supports Rosalie look after the finances of the church, as well as organising our weekly Open Fellowship meetings. Sue has been a member of PBC since before it moved to its current site in South Street, and is involved in our kids work, Friday breakfast and many other areas of church life.
